The Bible For The Future

This project arose out of our concern that, if digital information is not properly preserved, it could easily disappear! This is particularly true of Scripture that has been transcribed (or "keyboarded") into a digital format, used in the preparation of a particular translation, and then filed away in its original format rather than being stored in a server online.

Tapes, floppy disks and even memory sticks do not last for ever and file formats change even more quickly! For example, "Locoscript" was a popular word-processing application for a while in the early days of computing but how many people would be able to access content in that format today?

To see what we are seeking to do about this, please select each chapter from the headings in the left-hand column. The contents are as follows:

  1. Introduction
  2. Preservation: is it necessary?
  3. What needs to be done?
  4. What needs to be preserved?
  5. Project Parameters
  6. Rights Management and Licence
  7. Financial Support
